Shiatsu

An Indian Head massage treatment is energising and stimulating, with repetitive and intense deep tissue manipulations. It concentrates mainly on the upper back, neck and shoulders and is extremely practical, while achieving profound results in very short sessions.

This is then combined with a Shiatsu facial massage which is soothing and relaxing, with plenty of detailed attention paid to the actual flow of your Meridian energy lines. As its name suggests, a Shiatsu facial focuses mainly on the face and scalp, with very subtle, but profound, deep tissue manipulation of the neck and shoulders. The Shiatsu facial treatment combined with Indian Head Massage is especially good for those who would like to achieve a sense of harmonious balance and well-being. The Shiatsu & Holistic facial massage will enable you to walk away feeling fully relaxed, revitalised, happy and ready to face the world with a newly found sense of balance.

Shiatsu and Chinese Acupuncture (TCM)

Increasingly popular around the world due to its remarkable results, Shiatsu is a therapeutic massage originated in Japan. It is considered a complementary therapy and can therefore be combined with other types of therapies, but can also stand on its own.

Shiatsu and Chinese acupuncture (TCM) are both based upon the same traditional medical theories. However, a shiatsu practitioner aims to identify and correct imbalances in the body using a range of physical techniques while an acupuncturist makes use of needles.Shiatsu treatment includes physical stimulation of specific points, stretches and joint mobilisation techniques. Our Shiatsu Practitioner at Allure Clinic has many years of experience and understands the benefits that different approaches may offer. The mind and body can activate their own healing mechanisms when both the underlying cause and the symptoms of illness are addressed.

Shiatsu treatments can help relieve various symptoms such as headaches, migraines, lower or upper backaches, musculoskeletal problems, tendonitis, stress, anxiety, depression, insomnia, digestive disorders, menstrual irregularities, arthritis etc.

Shiatsu is a bodywork holistic therapy whose benefits can touch all different levels of the body; these are the physical, emotional and spiritual. Relaxation is an important element of a Shiatsu treatment, but not the only one. Shiatsu can benefit the skeleton, the muscles, the body meridians (as perceived in the oriental medicine), as well as the functions of the human organism. In other words, Shiatsu can benefit the systems of the body such as the nervous or the respiratory or the digestive and their corresponding organs, such as the lungs, stomach etc.

Our Shiatsu practitioner, apart from the technical skills and thumbs on the back, has typically spent years studying anatomy, physiology and pathology according to the conventional, western medicine as well as Traditional Chinese medicine (same framework used in acupuncture). The key to her successful treatment lies way beyond these intellectual systems of understanding the human body. It is the body’s healing capability or power that the practitioner tries to resonate with and this requires qualities such as presence, listening and compassion. Thus, the true secret ingredient of good Shiatsu is love.
